FILLMORE : Small Earthquake Causes No Damage

A mild, midday earthquake, centered on a fault about nine miles northwest of Fillmore, rattled windows Wednesday.
The temblor measured 3.3 on the Richter scale and struck about 12:45 p.m, said Robert Finn, a spokesman for Caltech in Pasadena. It was centered on the San Cayetano Fault, which runs across the mid-county area, north of Santa Paula to just east of the county line.
Police agencies reported few phone calls from county residents about the quake, and no damage was reported.
Residents who felt the earthquake said it was fleeting.
“My legs got weak, and I heard a little jolt,” said Betty Hood, an account clerk at Fillmore City Hall. “It was very slight.”
“It was just a little shaker,” said Supt. Marlene Davis of the Fillmore Unified School District. She said it was over so quickly that students “wouldn’t even have had time to have gotten under their desks. No big deal.”
