Bank of New England Decision Near: The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. reportedly met to consider bids for the failed bank amid reports that its staff favored proposals by San Francisco-based BankAmerica and Fleet/Norstar Financial of Rhode Island over a Bank of Boston-led group’s. Sources familiar with the bidding said there is a slight chance that the announcement could come today but that it could be delayed by a number of factors, including a possible bid revision by Bank of Boston.
