Fourteen elderly passengers on a Fairfax Avenue bus suffered minor injuries Wednesday when a car trying to enter Farmer’s Market made a sudden right turn, collided with the bus and forced its driver to bring the vehicle to a sudden stop, police said.
Eight passengers were taken to hospitals and six were treated at the scene near the intersection of Fairfax and 3rd Street. The accident, which happened shortly before 4 p.m., snarled traffic in the Fairfax District, officers said.
Investigators said Jongdee Newton was traveling northbound, parallel to the bus, when she tried to make a right turn. Neither Newton nor her husband, who was a passenger in the car, were injured.
