A Laguna Beach man was in serious condition Monday after his van was struck by a car whose driver fled, police said.
The hit-and-run took place at the intersection of Cress and Catalina streets in a residential area about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said a brown 1970 Audi 5000 collided with the white 1985 Toyota van driven by David C. Ebersole, 42.
A spokeswoman for Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where Ebersole was taken after the accident, said he suffered a broken spine, a concussion and multiple cuts and bruises.
Police Sgt. Lance Ishmael said the Audi no longer belongs to the person registered as its owner and that police are seeking the driver.
