Hilburn on Houston

So Robert Hilburn is complaining about Whitney Houston again (“Still a Riddle After All the Hits,” May 18). Maybe he won’t be satisfied with her unless she becomes political, joining Tracy Chapman and rap artists who sing protest songs and demand a revolution.

It’s unfortunate that Hilburn apparently believes that an artist’s worth is reduced unless his or her material and performances are of a revolutionary nature.
