Yanks and Britons Play Cricket--at North Pole

LONDON — Britain’s Royal Navy has just won a cricket match against the U.S. Navy--at the North Pole.
The British submarine Tireless and the U.S. submarine Pargo broke through the ice cap together after a month’s voyage studying the ice for research on global warming.
“Someone suggested a game of cricket,” a Defense Ministry official said Friday.
The British provided bats, ball and stumps and the players tried not to skid too much on a leveled stretch of polar ice. Who won was classified information, although Royal Navy sources leaked word that it was the British.
