Giant-Screen Theater Outside Zion Park OKd

SPRINGDALE, Utah — The Town Council gave initial approval Friday for construction of a giant-screen theater and hotel complex at the mouth of Zion National Park.
Local officials say the development would add to the park’s appeal and be an economic boon to the town of 275. But the National Park Service and environmentalists have criticized the project, saying it would be too close to the park’s spectacular rock formations.
