PREP BASEBALL CITY 3-A : Cervantes Pitches Narbonne to Title

Armando Cervantes overcame early wildness to help Narbonne defeat Franklin, 5-1, Friday in the City 3-A Division championship baseball game at Dodger Stadium.
The senior right-hander, who had three walks and a wild pitch in the first inning, struck out nine and pitched a six-hitter as the Gauchos (22-7) won their first title.
Cervantes opened the game with three walks and a wild pitch. However, he settled down and escaped the inning without giving up a run.

“I just had a lot of jitters,” Cervantes (9-4) said. “I am glad I got through it and settled down.”
Narbonne right fielder Mike Ramirez got three hits, including a double and a triple, scored two runs, stole a base and had a run batted in. He opened the game with a double, starting a two-run rally that gave Narbonne a lead it kept.
Franklin (22-10) stranded eight runners in a game that had four errors, eight walks, two wild pitches and a balk.
