Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Scientists Unveil New Prostate Drug

An experimental drug appears to be an effective alternative to surgery for a common form of enlargement of the prostate gland, scientists from Merck, Sharp & Dohme Inc. of West Point, Pa., told physicians at the American Urological Assn. meeting in Toronto. The researchers said that the drug, Proscar, has shrunk the gland by at least 20% in more than half of the men who received it.
