Women’s Building Closes: Lack of funding has forced the closure of the downtown Women’s Building, the 18-year-old arts complex that recently announced plans to move from its longtime Spring Street location to an enlarged gallery space in Santa Monica’s 18th Street Arts Complex. The building will close down July 15. Development coordinator Lynn Watanabe said, however, that the organization would keep an office space in the Santa Monica arts complex, hold its annual Vesta Awards in October and that the board would continue to meet for one year, in the hopes of acquiring funding to be able to reopen a gallery space.
