Kraft Inc. will voluntarily drop fat-percentage claims from the labels of its food products, Food and Drug Administration Chief David Kessler announced. Referring to claims such as “97% fat free” that appear on ice cream and frozen yogurt labels, Kessler said the percentages were “nothing more than a marketing gimmick” that could lead “people to conclude that the food itself promotes good health.”
