SEAL BEACH : ‘Weary’ Councilman Joe Hunt Bows Out

City Councilman Joe Hunt, who last week announced plans to resign as soon as a replacement is found, changed his mind Monday night and walked out of the council meeting, vowing never to return.
“I am physically and mentally weary,” said Hunt, who represents District 5. “I’m just plain burned out.”
Hunt and Mayor Edna Wilson said last week that they planned to resign after the defeat of Measure A-91, a ballot proposal that would have allowed the development of 329 homes on the old Hellman Ranch Property. Voters rejected both Measure A-91 and Measure B-91, a competing advisory proposal.
Wilson was absent from Monday’s council meeting.
As Hunt gathered his belongings, Mayor Frank Laszlo asked: “The only thing is, Joe, what does this mean?”
“Frank, I’d like to go out and enjoy this lovely Seal Beach spring night,” Hunt replied. “I would like to take my briefcase and wish you goodby.”
