Free Cartoon to Open Program

A full-length cartoon featuring such heroes as Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and Casey of the Mudville Nine will be shown at the five Glendale libraries to kick off the city’s 43rd annual Summer Reading Program beginning Monday.
Children who read eight books during the program, which continues until Aug. 10, will earn prizes and an invitation to a special awards party.
The 90-minute cartoon will be shown free next week at the following times and locations: 7 p.m. Monday, Casa Verdugo Branch, 1151 N. Brand Blvd.; 3 p.m. Tuesday, Montrose-Crescenta Branch, 2465 Honolulu Ave.; 7 p.m. Wednesday, Chevy Chase Branch, 3301 E. Chevy Chase Drive; 3 p.m. Thursday, Central Library, 222 E. Harvard St.; 3:30 p.m. Friday, Grandview Branch, 1535 5th St.
