Jobs cuts spark a protest at Apple Computer.
Apple Computer Employees Protest: Several dozen workers, upset by the elimination of 1,500 jobs, rallied outside a company office complex in Cupertino, Calif., and admonished Chief Executive John Sculley to follow his own advice he offered in a 1987 book entitled “Odyssey.” In it, he advises company officials not to panic and make major job cuts when quarterly profits take a dip.
