Schools : 3 High Schools Get Grants for Career Goal Programs

Three local high schools have been awarded $50,000 grants to improve students’ transitions from high school into the work force by developing programs to help them find career goals.
Bell Gardens High School in Bell Gardens, Jordan High School in Long Beach and Paramount High School in Paramount were three of the 30 California schools that the state Department of Education selected to receive federal High School Investment grants.
Bell Gardens High School Principal Chuck Norton said he was “delighted to have been selected” from among 340 high schools that applied. He and his staff will develop programs for students to go out into the community and get practical experience in fields that interest them.
