Long Beach : Trash, Street Services to Be Added in Washington Area

Responding to pleas from teachers and residents, the City Council has agreed to increase trash collection and street-sweeping near Washington Middle School, dubbed by city officials last year as the most neglected neighborhood in Long Beach.
The council agreed to increase trash collection from once a week to three times a week and to sweep the alleys weekly instead of every six to eight weeks. Streets in the area, bounded generally by Pacific and Magnolia avenues, Anaheim Street and Pacific Coast Highway, also will be swept twice a week rather than weekly, the council decided.
