Mobile Home Park Leases Curbed

A loophole in Carson’s mobile home rent control law was closed by the City Council on Tuesday, when the council enacted an emergency ordinance barring mobile home park owners from requiring new residents to sign long-term leases.
Several residents told the council that they had been unable to sell their mobile homes because prospective buyers objected to the leases being required by park owners.
The council approved the ordinance on a 4-0 vote. Councilwoman Vera Robles DeWitt abstained from the vote, because she lives in a mobile home.
