Abraham to Coach Boys’ Basketball at Channel Islands

Gary Abraham was hired Wednesday as boys’ basketball coach at Channel Islands High, according to Principal Ken Benefield.
Abraham, 29, was women’s basketball coach at Moorpark College the past four seasons. The Raiders were 30-5 last season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.
“We feel we were fortunate,” Benefield said. “He has exhibited a lot of enthusiasm and has had a lot of success.”
Abraham, a graduate of Newbury Park High, fills a position vacated by Don Salado, who retired in March after 17 seasons.
