WORLD IN BRIEF : TUNISIA : Hijacker Seized at Airport in Tunis
- Share via
A Tunisian who complained of maltreatment as an immigrant in Italy hijacked an Alitalia plane on a flight from Rome to Tunis, but was overpowered after the plane landed in Tunis. Authorities said he held a flight attendant by the throat and threatened to blow up the plane but allowed the other 136 passengers and crew to leave. An anti-terrorist squad then boarded the aircraft, a DC-9, and seized the hijacker, who did not have a bomb. He was identified as Mohammed ben Hassen Bouchnak, 26.
