ATTN. KIDS: Some children were disappointed when they got to the Santa Ana Zoo last weekend and saw this sign: “The elephant is on vacation.” The elephant the kids ride is Sid. Or Jennie, Kelly, Tai, or Dixie--whoever happens to be working that day. And they’re not really on vacation. A zoo spokesman said they took September off because their owner has most of them at the L.A. County Fair. . . . Rides at the zoo here resume Oct. 12.
