HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Fontana Overcomes Muir Lead, Wins, 27-23
- Share via
Pasadena Muir High Coach Mike Morris liked his football team’s chances when it led by 15 points late in the third quarter at Fontana Friday night.
Morris knew that Fontana was best known for its running game and would have to pass to come back.
The Steelers did just that in rallying behind the catches of Mike May to win, 27-23, on a four-yard touchdown run by Richard Stephens.
May, a 5-foot-7 senior, caught five passes for 155 yards and one touchdown in carrying the Fontana offense on a night when its running game was held in check.
Muir dominated the first three quarters on the strength of tailback Saladin McCullough, who rushed for 240 yards in 19 carries and scored two touchdowns.
