Fake Bomb Found at Wichita Abortion Clinic

WICHITA, Kan. — Police used a small explosive charge to blow up a package found Saturday near the front door of an abortion clinic.
Officers suspected that the package wrapped in duct tape was a bomb, but it turned out to be a chunk of concrete, Capt. David Pate said. The package was apparently left to keep the Wichita Women’s Center from opening, Pate said.
Police moved about 100 anti-abortion demonstrators and about 25 abortion-rights demonstrators half a mile away from the clinic while the bomb squad blew up the package.
More than 2,600 arrests were made during seven weeks of demonstrations by the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue outside Wichita abortion clinics in July and August.
