Mother Charged in Stabbing Deaths of Sons

A Monterey Park woman accused of stabbing her two young sons to death was charged Tuesday with two counts of murder along with the special circumstances of a multiple murder, authorities said.
Diana Covarrubias, 25, was arrested Sunday after her brother found her in her bed with the bodies of Steven Killen, 6, and Jeffrey Hernandez, 2. She also stabbed herself and took an overdose of Excedrin, police said. She remains in stable but guarded condition at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
