COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Golden West Wins on Goal by Bauer, Larson’s Shutout

Scott Bauer’s goal nine minutes into the game gave Golden West a 1-0 victory over Palomar in a nonconference men’s soccer game Tuesday at Golden West.

Goalie Clint Larson had nine saves as the Rustlers improved to 4-4.

In other nonconference men’s soccer:

Orange Coast 2, Moorpark 0--P.J. Polowski scored 15 minutes into the second half and Lance Barker added another goal midway through the half for visiting Orange Coast (3-2-4).

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Moorpark 3, Orange Coast 1--Linda Lewin scored with eight minutes remaining for OCC (2-3-1). Heather Rowland scored two goals and goalie Amy Lyman had 16 saves for Moorpark.

In nonconference water polo:

Long Beach 12, Orange Coast 9--Long Beach took a 6-1 lead in the first quarter and the Pirates never (12-2) recovered at Belmont Plaza. Bill Nickel scored four goals for Orange Coast.

Cypress 18, San Bernardino Valley 8--Ed Hordenski and Fred Tinsley each had four goals for host Cypress.

Saddleback 14, Fullerton 11--Mark Walsh and Edwin Carrera each had four goals for host Saddleback.
