COSTA MESA : Water District Plans Test of Hydrants
- Share via
Engineers for the Mesa Consolidated Water District will flush water hydrants in Costa Mesa next week to develop a comprehensive computer model of the local water system, according to district officials.
By measuring the water flow in various parts of the water district’s distribution system, the engineers hope to refine long-range plans for improvements, enhance district conservation programs and develop more economical operations.
For the first time, the computer model will also help water officials determine whether the system is sufficient to serve future residential development. They said existing residential users will not be affected by the tests.
The tests will be primarily conducted in the north, southeast and southwest parts of Costa Mesa between 8 a.m. and noon on Oct. 9. Hydrants will be opened for about eight minutes.
