COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Outlasts Cal State L.A. in Volleyball

Debi Waller had 21 kills and 18 digs as Chapman University held on to defeat Cal State Los Angeles in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball match Wednesday at Los Angeles.
The Panthers (12-8, 1-0 in the CCAA) won the first two games easily, but lost the next two, before winning the final game for a 15-10, 15-3, 11-15, 6-15, 15-10 victory. Rena Strange had 18 kills and Heather Mead had 28 digs for the Panthers.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s soccer:
Cal State Bakersfield 4, Chapman 3--Defending conference champion Bakersfield took a 4-1 in the second half before Chapman scored twice in the final 20 minutes on goals by sophomore midfielder Chris Paulter and freshman forward Eddie Soto. Bakersfield is 6-3 and 1-0 in the CCAA. Chapman is 4-4-1 and 0-1.
