When Will Athletes Finally Learn About Drinking and Driving?

Recently, two promising Atlanta Brave rookies, Brian Hunter and Keith Mitchell, were arrested for separate drunk driving incidents.
I am sure they were remorseful and apologetic for their actions. They should be grateful they received only an arrest and fines.
Back in the 1986-87 season at Cerritos College, one of Brian Hunter’s teammates, a promising pitcher, was disabled in a drunk-driving accident.
There were no arrests or fines. I was remorseful and apologetic but suffered one of the consequences of drinking and driving: paralysis.
Drinking and driving remains the No. 1 killer (and disabler) of youths and should be addressed as much as possible.
