JUNIOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Valley Shreds Ventura Behind Bostic, Brown

On paper, Saturday night’s Western State Conference contest between Valley and Ventura colleges appeared to be a tossup.
Throw away the paper.
Valley dominated in every aspect to record a 39-0 victory before 1,722 at Ventura High.
Running backs Terrance Brown and Nigel Bostic each rushed for 83 yards to pace a Monarch offense that controlled the ball and the game while rolling up 448 yards to give first-year Coach Jim Fenwick his first victory at Valley.
“We played better than I thought we would,” said Fenwick, whose team improved to 1-2, 1-1 in conference play. “We took the ball out of their hands and when their offense got on the field it wasn’t very effective.”
A porous Ventura defense, which had given up 97 points in the previous two games, wasn’t very effective either as the Pirates fell to 1-2, 1-1.
On the second play of the game, Valley quarterback Chris Gadomski found wide receiver Randolph Brown all alone in the secondary for a 71-yard touchdown pass only 48 seconds into the game.
On Ventura’s first series, quarterback Matt Brimigion’s first pass was intercepted by defensive back Shane Bullock at the Valley 47-yard line.
Ten plays later, sophomore kicker Cuneyt Karacuha booted his first field goal of the season, a 28-yarder. A 44-yard field goal by Karacuha and a nine-yard touchdown run by Irving Carter in the second quarter gave Valley a 19-0 halftime lead.
Brimigion completed only four of 14 for one yard before being relieved by Rick Carpenter in the third quarter.
