The Pacifica offense suffered a major blow last week when senior running back Dereck Nicholson broke his leg during a 38-24 loss to Rancho Alamitos. According to Mariner Coach Bill Craven, the injury will keep Nicholson out of the lineup for the remainder of the season.
Nicholson was injured on the Mariners’ first play from scrimmage when he carried for a two-yard gain and was tackled hard by several Rancho Alamitos defenders.
Craven said sophomore Jeremy Nicholson will replace his brother. Dereck Nicholson, an all-league selection last year, had rushed for 237 yards in 45 carries this season.
