CITY SECTION ROUNDUP : VALLEY PAC-8 CONFERENCE

Sylmar 50, Monroe 0--Tobaise Brookins rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns in 14 carries and Brian Roberson returned two punts for touchdowns as Sylmar (5-1, 4-0) routed host Monroe (1-5, 1-3).

Roberson’s punt returns of 58 and 62 yards came within a nine-minute span in the first half. The Spartans forced three turnovers and limited the Vikings to 105 yards.

Sylmar quarterback Ryan Walker completed five of six passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Brookins had three receptions for 52 yards. Kicker Martin Castillo converted six of six extra-point attempts. Monroe’s Sean Bell rushed for 52 yards in 14 carries.
