Lady Bird Johnson Due at Nixon Library

YORBA LINDA — Lady Bird Johnson, the widow of former President Lyndon B. Johnson, will make her first visit to the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace today, which will be followed by a rose bush planting dedicated to the former First Lady.
The Yorba Linda Girl Scouts will plant the rose bush in the same garden where Pat Nixon’s favorite flowers now are in full bloom, said Kevin Cartwright, library and birthplace spokesman. Lady Bird Johnson, 79, is the co-author of a book on wildflowers.
Former President Richard M. Nixon will not attend Johnson’s planting but on Monday night he will attend a private reception there, his second visit to the library and birthplace since its dedication.
