General Electric increased its quarterly common-stock dividend 8% to 55 cents per share, payable Jan. 27, 1992, to owners of record Dec. 9 . . . Baker Hughes of Houston reported that the number of working oil and gas rigs in the United States jumped by 25 to 828. A year ago, the count was 1,103.
