Librarian, 62, Found Bludgeoned to Death

A 62-year-old librarian found dead in her Northridge home appears to have been bludgeoned to death, Los Angeles police said Friday.
The body of Meta Frances Murphy was discovered Thursday afternoon in the 18500 block of Mayall Street after co-workers called the police because she had failed to arrive for work, Lt. Joseph Eddy said.
There was no sign of forced entry into Murphy’s home and a motive for the killing was not known, Eddy said.
