TUSTIN : Base-Closure Group Gets New Members

Mayor Charles E. Puckett has appointed Councilman Richard B. Edgar and Todd Ferguson, president of Peppertree Homeowners Assn., to serve on a base-closure task force.
Councilwoman Leslie Anne Pontious was appointed as to act as an alternate on the committee, which will organize, plan and implement various actions related to the closure of the Tustin Marine Corps Air Station.
The task force will attempt to guide development by working with the community and with state and federal agencies, as well as with agencies in and next to the base, according to Assistant City Manager Christine Shingleton.
In addition to the new members, the following have been selected to serve on the task force: Tustin Planning Commissioners Kathy Weil and Casper Kasparian; Tustin Chamber of Commerce representative Angie Kardashian; private sector representative Barbara Warso; Mike Ruane, director of the County Environmental Management Agency; Santa Ana Councilman Robert L. Richardson; Marine Cols. Thomas A. Braaten and Leonard R. Fuchs Jr., and Rex Combs, a representative of Tustin Meadows.
