Carmen Casting: Greek mezzo-soprano Agnes Baltsa has bowed out of her scheduled performances as “Carmen” Jan. 22-Feb. 4 with L.A. Music Center Opera to be with her gravely ill mother. She will be replaced by American mezzo Denyce Graves, one of two singers who replaced Marilyn Horne when she canceled her San Francisco Opera “Carmen” dates last month. Other principals for the L.A. opera remain: Placido Domingo as Don Jose, Angelique Burzynski as Micaela and Michael Devlin as Escamillo. Randall Behr is conducting.
