Cetus and Chiron Establish Pre-Merger Office of the Chairman

Chiron Corp. and Cetus Corp. unveiled the composition of the office of the chairman in the company to be formed by their expected merger on Dec. 16.
Chiron Chairman William J. Rutter and Chiron Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Edward E. Penhoet will continue in their roles in the new organization, which will retain the Chiron name. Hollings Renton, president and chief operating officer of Cetus, will become president and chief operating officer of Chiron.
Gregory B. Lawless, president and chief operating officer of Chiron since March, 1989, will leave Chiron “to pursue other opportunities but will be available to assist in the transition and integration of the two companies,” the firms said.
