Duel in the Morning: Morning radio bad boys Jay Thomas of KPWR and Howard Stern of KLSX engaged in an on-air duel Wednesday morning on their shows, with exercise guru Richard Simmons in the middle. Simmons, a guest on Thomas’ show, called Stern to say he had “a mystery guest” for him to talk to. The segment quickly degenerated into name-calling. From Stern: “Hey, Jay, you big jackass, you got one shot on ‘Murphy Brown.’ That’s what you’re good at--reading other people’s lines. You oughta quit ‘Murphy Brown’ and start working on your radio show.” Thomas: “Hey, this is a very religious town and they’ve been waiting for the Antichrist to arrive.”
