BF Goodrich to Cut Vinyl Resin Production: The company said it will phase out vinyl resin manufacturing at three plants in the next two years, eliminating 225 jobs and reducing earnings before taxes by $117.8 million in the fourth quarter. The plants are in Avon Lake, Ohio; Henry, Ill., and Plaquemine, La. Although vinyl resin manufacturing will be phased out, the company will continue producing vinyl compounds at all three sites and specialty chemicals at Avon Lake and Henry. “This is a key step in implementing our strategy of making the Geon Vinyl Division a more stable and consistent source of earnings,” Chairman John D. Ong said.
