Glendale College running back Rafik Thorossian, a two-time All-Western State Conference North Division selection from Glendale High, has signed a letter of intent with Texas El Paso, Glendale Coach John Cicuto said Friday.
Cicuto also said that Vaquero defensive linemen Robert Montoya and Robert Marceau have signed to play at Colorado State.
Thorossian, a 6-foot, 235-pound fullback, gained 837 yards in 149 carries this season for a 5.6 yards-per-carry average. He will join a UTEP program that features one running back.
“It is a perfect offense for him,” Cicuto said. “They need a big back who can run and catch as well.”
Thorossian chose UTEP over Cal State Fullerton and New Mexico among others.
Montoya (6-3, 300) from Alhambra High, and Marceau (6-3, 235) from Hoover, were first and second-team All-WSC selections, respectively.
