L.A. Sues Over Copter Crash Fatal to 3

The city of Los Angeles has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit blaming an engine manufacturer for the June crash of a Police Department helicopter that killed two officers and a civilian struck by the falling craft.
The lawsuit contends the firm installed a defective part and falsely certified the craft as airworthy.
Turbomeca Engine Corp., based in Grand Prairie, Tex., “failed to inform and, in fact, misled” the city about repairs to the French-made craft, which crashed June 13 near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the lawsuit said.
