Fans Down on Downey for Column That Said Magic Shouldn’t Play

Mike Downey is wrong. The important thing is not to make those who are misinformed “comfortable.” That is the kind of thinking that would justify those who made Ryan White and his family leave town and made Brad Davis keep his HIV affliction a secret. To stop Magic Johnson from performing his wizardry one more time in the NBA will not only be an injustice to Magic and his fans, it will also give credence to those who would isolate anyone with HIV from a variety of everyday activities.
