Oberkfell Signs With the Angels

ANAHEIM — Infielder Ken Oberkfell has signed a minor league contract with the Angels and will report to spring training as a nonroster player, the club announced Monday.
Oberkfell, a veteran of five teams, last played with the Houston Astros but was released July 27, 1991. He hit .229 in 53 games and was used mostly as a pinch-hitter.
Oberkfell, 35, has a lifetime average of .278 with 29 home runs and 436 runs batted in. He made his major league debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1977.
