Give Soka a Break

I continue to be amazed by your slanted coverage of the Soka University issue. The Times just doesn’t seem to realize that there is substantial and growing support in the local community for the university and the programs it plans to offer.
The Friends of Soka University, a community support group that I belong to, is growing at a consistent rate and now includes more than 60 local property owners and business people. We favor the educational and cultural opportunities that Soka has to offer.
Why does The Times pay so much tribute to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy? Who cares what Joe Edmiston thinks about the secretary of state? As far as I’m concerned, he’s a bureaucrat who’s already wasted half a million dollars of taxpayer money trying to force Soka off its land.
Soka is preserving 80% of its land as open space. Give these guys a break.
