Charter Sweetens Offer for Spelling: Charter Co. said it completed a definitive agreement to acquire the shares in Spelling Entertainment it already did not own. In addition, Charter agreed to increase its non-cash stock swap so that each Spelling shareholder will receive one share in Charter. Previously, Charter had offered one share for each nine-tenths of a share in Spelling. Charter said that several class-action suits brought as a result of the merger proposal have been tentatively settled. Charter, which is controlled by the Carl Lindner family, owns 82% of Spelling.
