Yannick Noah quit as French Davis Cup captain to pursue his career as a recording artist. Noah, who was captain of the French team that won the Davis Cup last year, bowed out two days after a quarterfinal loss to Switzerland.
French tennis officials said Noah had informed his players of the decision several weeks ago. Noah was criticized for not allowing either Guy Forget or Henri Leconte to play singles in the match won by Switzerland, 3-2. Leconte called Noah’s player selections “stupid and idiotic.”
