HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Dorado Pitches Monroe to 6-1 Win

Jorge Dorado had two hits and struck out 10 in six innings to lead host Monroe High past North Hollywood, 6-1, in a Valley Pac-8 Conference baseball game Tuesday. Juan Navarro was three for three for Monroe (4-2-1, 2-1 in league play).

Poly 6, Canoga Park 3--Jesus Perez was two for four and Steve Chavez doubled home two runs for host Poly (5-3, 2-1) in a Valley Pac-8 game.
Grant 4, Birmingham 2--Jose Velazquez and Nick Oriti each had two hits and drove in two runs to lead host Grant (5-3, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 game.
Sylmar 3, Van Nuys 0--Jose Villafana struck out five, did not walk a batter, and limited host Van Nuys to four hits in a Valley Pac-8 game.
Hoover 4, Crescenta Valley 0--Kevin Deitch struck out nine and limited Crescenta Valley to four singles in a Pacific League game.
St. Bonaventure 5, Carpinteria 3--John McNamara was two for two, drove in two runs and stole three bases for host St. Bonaventure (4-3, 1-0) in a Tri-Valley League game.
Santa Paula 2, Calabasas 1--With the score tied in the sixth, Joe Aguilar walked with the bases loaded in a Frontier League game.
Hueneme 4, Arroyo Grande 3--Jess Olivares was three for three and drove in two runs and teammate Adam Anaya had two hits and two RBIs for Hueneme.
Muir 4, Glendale 1--Brenden Barrett and Mark Haft each had two hits for host Glendale (3-4, 1-4) in a Pacific League defeat.
Buena 10, Ventura 1--Grandon Aubert and Nick Houchin combined on a two-hitter for Buena in a Channel League game.
Canyon 3, Quartz Hill 2--Pinch-runner Mike Swinford scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning to lift the host Cowboys (3-5, 1-1) to a Golden League victory.
SOFTBALL
Burbank 2, Hoover 0 (13 innings)--Nancy Evans recorded 26 strikeouts, but the Tornadoes (7-2) lost when visiting Burbank (8-4) scored two runs in the top of the 13th of the nonleague game.
Granada Hills 4, Reseda 0--Jessica Shapiro and Brandy Brennan combined on a perfect game for Granada Hills in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Camarillo 6, Channel Islands 1--Camarillo’s Laura Richardson and Christi Moore combined on a no-hitter in a Marmonte League game.
Sylmar 8, North Hollywood 1--Ruby Gonzalez tossed a no-hitter and struck out 16 to lead the Spartans (7-3, 1-0) to a Valley Pac-8 victory.
