28 Wounded in New Gaza Clashes

RAFAH, Israeli-Occupied Gaza Strip — Israeli soldiers fired plastic bullets at stone-throwing Palestinians on Thursday, wounding 28 in confrontations stemming from a clash that killed four people and wounded 50 a day earlier.
The army imposed a curfew on Rafah, where the fighting took place Wednesday. But troops did not interfere as scores of people broke the curfew, Arab reports said.
Hospital officials said Thursday’s wounded, in clashes in Gaza City and several refugee camps, were struck by plastic bullets, designed to be less lethal than regular bullets.
In Jerusalem, meanwhile, Palestinian leader Faisal Husseini called for international protection for the 1.7 million Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
