Peninsula, Inglewood Players Honored

John Anthony of Peninsula High and Givon Hester of Inglewood have been named to the All-Southern Section Division I boys’ basketball team by the Amateur Athletic Foundation/First Interstate board of sports journalists.

Anthony, a 6-foot-7 senior bound for Loyola Marymount, was named to the first team. He averaged 18.4 points a game.

Hester, a 6-5 junior who averaged 15 points, was a second-team choice.

Mater Dei guard Reggie Geary, a 6-2 senior bound for Arizona, and Buena guard Lance Fay, a 6-1 senior who averaged 29.8 points, were named division co-players of the year. Geary averaged 14.8 points for state finalist Mater Dei.
