Phillips Discloses 1,350 Layoffs: Phillips Petroleum Co. said it has laid off 1,350 employees, 250 more than previously estimated, in a $150-million cost-cutting move it blamed on the recession. About 1,000 of the layoffs--900 employees and 100 contract workers--came at company headquarters in Bartlesville, Okla., where Phillips employs 5,200. The remainder were in Houston and field offices.
