World IN BRIEF : ALBANIA : Archeologist Named Premier

President Sali Berisha has appointed Alexander Meksi, a 53-year-old archeologist, as prime minister of Albania’s first non-Communist government, the official ATA news agency said. Berisha, whose Democratic Party won a landslide victory over the former Communists, renamed Socialists, in elections last month, is the country’s first non-Communist president elected by Parliament.
